This was accomplished by using typical phototherapy equipment to expose the newborn to strong light (about 4.5 microwatts/sq cm/nm) in the 420-480 nm wave length band. To overcome the limitations of fluorescent and CFL tubes, we have developed long-lasting, durable, more efficient, and cost-effective LEDs for jaundice therapy that emit more than twice the flux of traditional fluorescent and CFL tubes.
