Wastewater Treatment
A process Used to remove Suspended solids biodegradable organics such as Biology Oxygen Demand(BOD) pathogenic bacteria and nutrients from industrial and sewage wastewater. Wastewater treatment process is segmented into three levels.
Primary Treatment
Process is the first stage in wastewater treatment and is used for removal of gross , suspended and floating solids along with BOD. Screens in conjunction with chemicals are used in primary treatment and this helps about 50%-60% suspended solid and 20%-30% BOD.
Secondary Treatment
Known as biological treatment and this is capable of reducing about 85% of suspended solids and 90% of BOD. It is used for reduction of dissolved organic substances. Activated and truckling are the prime technologies used in secondary treatment.
Tertiary Treatment
known as advanced treatment and used for reduction of about 99% impurities present in wastewater . Tertiary Treatment is an expensive process as it requires high technical expertise and specific equipment.
